We understand that many court users may need support and assistance during their court journey. To help you through this, we have provided a brief overview of some of the supports or useful contacts that may be relevant to your circumstances. In addition to these services, there may be services in your locality that can help you.

FLAC is an independent voluntary organisation. Their aim is to promote equal access to justice for everybody with approaches such as legal advice, analysis and advocacy.

Women's Aid

Women’s Aid provide free and confidential support to women experiencing domestic violence, family and friends, and professionals supporting victims of abuse.

Supports available include:

  • National Freephone Helpline 1800 341 900 available 24 hours aday, 7 days a week
  • Telephone Interpretation Service on 1800 341 900 available 8am – 8pm, 7 days a week
  • An online chat service available 7 nights a week, 7pm – 10pm at womensaid.ie. Additional hours during COVID-19 include Monday to Friday, 10am – 1pm and Saturday, 12pm – 3pm and Sunday, 11am – 1pm.
  • Text service for Deaf and Hard of Hearing women available daily on 087 959 7980
  • Support and referral service for women applying for domesti violence orders on 089 221 4636, Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 4.30pm. A drop- in service is also available in Dolphin House
  • Family Law Court in Dublin, Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 12.30pm

If you are concerned about violence in your home, you should contact your local Garda station. Members of the Gardaí are specially trained to deal with these situations and can offer advice, information and assistance. If you feel in immediate danger, call 112 or 999.

Legal Aid Board Family Mediation Service

Family mediation is a free service which can help separating couples and parents whose relationship has broken down to negotiate their own agreement. The parties are facilitated and helped by a trained mediator, and negotiate their own terms of settlement.

Pavee Point

Pavee Point is a national non-governmental organisation based in Dublin working to address the human rights situation of Travellers and Roma who as minority ethnic groups experience social exclusion, discrimination and racism. Pavee Point is not a service provider but works at policy, service and community levels, including in addressing the DSGBV needs of Traveller and Roma women.
