Further to the President’s Notices issued on 5 March 2024 and 21 December 2023, I am pleased to announce the launch of the High Court Pilot Project for the Long Vacation 2024 (the “Pilot Project”). The background to the Pilot Project was set out in the previous notices. It was a key recommendation in the Report of the Judicial Planning Working Group of February 2023, which was accepted by the Government.
Practitioners and litigants should note that the following High Court judges who are taking part in the Pilot Project will not be sitting (save on an exceptional basis) in July 2024 (there is a sufficient number of judges sitting in the relevant lists for the work in those lists for that month):
- Mr Justice Richard Humphreys (Planning & Environment List)
- Ms Justice Emily Farrell (Planning & Environment List)
- Mr Justice John Jordan (Family List)
- Mr Justice Barry O’Donnell (Non-Jury/Judicial Review/Asylum, Immigration & Citizenship Lists)
- Mr Justice Conleth Bradley (Non-Jury, Asylum, Immigration & Citizenship Lists)
Instead, these judges will be working on judgments as usual and will sit again to hear cases in September 2024 in the following lists:
- Planning & Environment
- Family
- Non-Jury/Judicial Review/ Asylum, Immigration & Citizenship
1 July 2024
Mr Justice David Barniville
President of the High Court
